Social Services plans housing coordinator and explores AI as 2027 budget work begins

Graf said the department is on track with its 2026 budget and has started early internal discussions for a fiscally responsible 2027 budget. She described internal preparations for housing and homelessness this season with a focus on Code Blue planning and said the department is considering creating a Housing Coordinator position expected to have a relatively low fiscal impact; a resolution to establish the role is anticipated to be presented in June.
Graf also said the department continues to explore AI. She described a planned on-site presentation by TipCo, a New York–based company reportedly working with about 25 counties, which will include IT staff; Graf said the potential exists to implement AI solutions internally that could reduce the need for external contracting, but that details are still under discussion.
