Youth services report: record FACT slots this year; Sodus Point hires lifeguards ahead of Memorial Day opening

Kelly Beaudette, Aging and Youth Deputy Director, reported a record number of FACT program slots filled during the current school year but cautioned participation may drop next year because some school districts face budget constraints; she said the cost per slot is currently $1,200, which covers up to one year of service with a department case worker.
Beaudette said all head lifeguard positions at Sodus Point have been filled and the department received three additional applications for regular lifeguard roles. Park setup is scheduled for May 21–22 and the park is expected to open over Memorial Day weekend. Beaudette also highlighted Parent Café initiatives being used to gather parental perspectives and said the department plans increased outreach and advertising to raise attendance.
