District expands career-pathway endorsements and plans phased School Links rollout for student planning

District administrators updated the board on efforts to expand career pathway endorsements and improve tools for student planning. The district recently stood up three ISBE career pathway endorsements (media, environmental science, CNA) and is proposing additional pathways this year to meet ISBE requirements through 2030. Administrators said endorsements will include a mix of dual-credit and AP instruction where appropriate.
To support student planning the district is piloting School Links, a career-endorsement platform provided to Lake County public schools. Administrators described a careful two-year rollout so juniors and seniors retain known systems during the transition. "We're going to do a slow 2 year roll out, migrating in incremental so that our freshmen, sophomores and juniors next year will begin to dabble in it and get used to it while our seniors will have a known entity to do the college, admissions process," an administrator said.
