Rockport school budget timeline set: public presentation Feb. 5, town meeting Apr. 5

The district presented a budget-development timeline tied to the town calendar. Leadership and the school committee will prepare through Feb. 5, when the committee will publicly present the proposed school budget. From Feb. 6 to Apr. 5 the district will conduct outreach (roadshow) to the board of selectmen and finance committee; the town meeting presentation is scheduled for Apr. 5 with capital funds available July 1 if approved.
June Sanfilippo, business manager, said the early-year fund-flow review covers July–September and noted that special education and operations/maintenance are the two main areas that can cause variances; circuit-breaker revenue and school-choice numbers are early estimates that will be updated. Committee members agreed the timeline is tight and emphasized planning for community engagement ahead of any potential budget override conversations.
