Rockport schools show 'substantial progress' in state accountability; chronic absenteeism flagged at high school

Goodyear highlighted two areas of concern: declines in ELA and math achievement in some grades and an increase in high‑school chronic absenteeism (the high‑school chronic absence rate was 22.9% against a target of 18.8%). She defined chronic absenteeism as "more than 10% of the school year," roughly 18 days. Committee members asked for student‑level cohort data; the administration said it will return with a deeper MCAS presentation and student‑level analysis at the next meeting.
