Rockport outlines school safety teams, closed-campus enforcement and emergency operations plan

The superintendent described Rockport''s District Emergency Response Team (DIRTT), a Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) team, and an in-progress school emergency operations plan (CIOP). He said DIRTT meets monthly and BTAM meets roughly five times per year and that regional partnerships have brought in outside experts, including an FBI special agent who led a training on targeted violence.
On campus access and enforcement, the superintendent said the town will install signage and the police will increase oversight of the campus during school hours and nightly closures: "We really need people to know that our we have a closed campus... we're gonna be enforcing that after 10PM nightly, everything's closed down," he said. The committee discussed how to communicate these changes to families and staff and agreed to continue coordination with the town police and DPW.
