Superintendent Mark Branko and the policy subcommittee presented the results of a multi‑policy review and asked the School Committee to accept six policies for a first read and to remove two policies from the manual. "So that's the first read," Branko said, asking the committee to review ADC, BEDH, GBED, GBEE, GBGE and GCRD and return for a second read and a vote at the next meeting.
Committee members explained that BHD (community relations) and GDD (staff support/vacation) are being recommended for removal because they are either redundant or operational (covered elsewhere, including collective bargaining agreements). Member Amy Oakes (identified in the transcript) summarized the rationale: "When we drop something, we're dropping something because it's redundant or it doesn't actually belong in policy." Both motions — the first‑read acceptance and the drops — were approved by voice vote.
