The Rushford City Council approved Resolution 2026-26 to provide $2,500 in rent assistance through the New Business Rental Grant Program to The White Barn Farm, a new canoe, kayak and tube rental business at 300 S. Mill Street. The motion was moved by Drew Linder and seconded by Nick Smith; it carried.
Owner Chad Kingsbury told the council he is obtaining finishing inspections for the bus that will be used for transportation and said "there are 3 areas on the river that have tree debris that may make the venture in a canoe a little more challenging so might want to be a bit more experienced if canoeing, but it is just fine for tubes and kayaks." He said the business hopes to open the upcoming weekend.
The minutes record no conditions attached to the grant; the council approved the application and the $2,500 rent assistance as presented.
