Mason schools honor staff and student achievements at May board meeting

The board used part of its May 5 meeting to recognize staff and student achievements. Penny Whipple, an MCS long-term substitute bus driver, was named Staff Member of the Month in a recognition sponsored by Leski Wittman Insurance Agency. The board also presented certificates to Central Elementary spelling bee winners Jayce Fink (4th grade, 1st), Rayleigh Kilbourne (4th grade, 2nd), Carson Ellerbrock (5th grade, 1st) and Rylie Anteau (5th grade, 2nd).
In the celebrations section, board member Grodi praised downtown improvements — sidewalks, lighting and sewer — and commended Mr. Hodge and high school shop students for completing interior work on the Erie Police garage. President Otting mentioned the Mason Invitational and invited board members to Central Elementary’s Field Day on June 2.
