Mason board approves new hires for 2026-27 school year

The Mason Consolidated Schools Board of Education approved three new hires for the 2026-27 school year on May 5, 2026. The board approved Elizabeth Overfield as a bus driver at $19.25 per hour (motion by Grodi, supported by Waller), Carley Chambers as a CES/MS Special Education teacher at Step 11 BA (motion by Grodi, supported by Nehrig), and Cody Spotts as a high school PE/Health teacher at Step 1 BA (motion by Fowler, supported by Waller). All approvals were contingent on receipt of required background, certification and reference checks and each motion carried 6-0.
Board action was recorded individually for each position. The hires respond to staffing needs for the coming school year; the district also noted elsewhere in the superintendent’s report that it will move one 5th-grade teacher to 6th grade to accommodate larger incoming classes.
