Dewey Bartlett told the committee he is seeking reappointment to the Tulsa Rogers County Port Authority and described the port as a major regional economic engine with about 70–75 companies and more than 3,000 full‑time employees.
"When I was appointed to the board about 8 years ago, we really did start a very significant outreach into looking for new markets," Bartlett said, noting PSO gave the port 2,000 contiguous acres that staff expect will form a second port and expand capacity. Port representatives said the board is pursuing large infrastructure projects: staff reported plans to break ground in September on a $70,000,000 wastewater treatment plant and recently completed a $21,000,000 rail spur at the future Port of Inola to support competition for "mega sites." Councilors thanked Bartlett for long service and scheduled a confirmation vote for Aug. 28 at 5 p.m.
No vote was taken at the Aug. 21 meeting. Councilors and staff emphasized the port’s regional economic footprint and said they welcome a future project announcement.
