Resident Elton Holmes asks board to require written responses after hearings

Elton Holmes of Somerville urged the Fayette County Public Schools board to amend Policies 1.401 and 1.404 so that “individuals who request a hearing or appear before the Board receive a formal written response from the Board within 14 days following the hearing or meeting,” he said. Holmes told the committee that written feedback would improve communication between the board and the community.
Board members instructed Holmes to submit the proposed amendments through the board's normal process. “The proposals would be placed on the agenda for the August 20 Policy Committee meeting for consideration,” Kevin Powers said, and committee members asked Holmes to email the language to all board members and noted he also had provided a printed copy. The committee did not take action; Powers said the proposals will be reviewed through the regular Policy Committee process once formally submitted.
