The Weatherford Planning and Zoning Commission approved the final plat for Racetrack Weatherford on Dec. 10, 2025. The application proposes one lot totaling approximately 7.341 acres located at the northeast corner of Rick Williamson Memorial Highway and Interstate 20 (SBD-205-0016). The presenter noted the conditional use permit and the preliminary plat were approved in August and that staff recommended approval of the final plat subject to subdivision requirements.
Commissioners asked why the final plat does not show building footprints, parking and ingress/egress. City staff and the presenter explained that such details appear on a site plan rather than on a final plat and that site-plan review occurs separately after plat approval and as part of the conditional-use or planned development process. As a staff member told the commission, the plat before the body is a ministerial action that represents property lines and compliance with prior zoning approvals. The presenter also stated, "The conditional use permit that was approved was for a fueling station," noting that the proposed site's intended use had previously been reviewed as part of the zoning action.
After clarifications and discussion, the commission moved to approve the final plat (motion recorded as made by Ms. Hayes and seconded by Mr. Cray). The record shows the motion passed unanimously. Staff noted the site plan and other development details will be submitted for later review in accordance with the city's permitting and site-plan process.
