President Ricardo A. Perez opened the Nov. 5 Special Called Meeting of the ROMA ISD Board of Trustees and "determined that a quorum was present; that the meeting had been duly called, and that notices of the agenda had been legally posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act Chapter 551," the record shows.
The meeting featured a student character-trait presentation and the district's Gladiator Wall of Fame introductions. Student Jaqueline Saenz delivered a rendition for November's character trait, Compassion, and students Sasha Alana Yere and Alessandro Salinas led the invocation and Pledge of Allegiance respectively. Rodrigo Bazan introduced a roster of Wall of Fame inductees drawn from multiple campuses, including Alessandro Salinas, Sasha Alana Yere, Jaqueline Saenz, Izabella Gonzalez, Savannah M. Flores, Michael Vasquez and more; each inductee was presented with a token of appreciation.
The recognitions were presented as part of routine board business and were not followed by separate votes. The morning's student honors highlighted university affiliations for some participants (Sasha Alana Yere: University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; Alessandro Salinas: Texas A & M University) and showcased nominees from elementary through high school campuses across the district.
