The Public Works Committee introduced three commission nominees and a reappointment and set confirmations for the full council on August 28.
Tina Tran, nominated to the Asian Affairs Commission from District 9, told the committee, "It's called APITA Tulsa and we have done now a lot of, fun community events," and described outreach work to build community among Asian American residents. Chair Laurie Doctor Wright invited Tran to the confirmation vote and said the committee welcomed her willingness to serve after relocating to Tulsa three years ago.
Katie Eller Murray, identified in the agenda as Catherine Murray and speaking as Katie Eller Murray, said she had returned to Tulsa and emphasized youth-focused civic work through a long-running nonprofit, the Lemonade Project. The committee also considered a reappointment to the Board of Appeals; the reappointment candidate described a background in fire-protection work and prior board service.
