Trust structure slows Rogers Farm easement; staff awaiting beneficiary signatures

Staff (S2) reported the David Rogers tract will close Dec. 8 but said the Rogers Farm Trust tract requires signed agreements from all trust beneficiaries before the easement can be recorded. "We are required to have all the trust beneficiaries sign an agreement saying they understand that the trust is putting in a conservation easement on the property," the staff member said, adding staff have reached out to beneficiaries and are awaiting returned signatures.
Board members discussed that the trust was created decades ago and that involvement of six or seven beneficiaries makes the process more complicated than a simple owner signature. Staff said they have been contacting beneficiaries (including phone outreach by 'Mary Jo') to explain the issue and urge signatures so the closing can proceed.
