Royse City trustees recognize Loretta Smith and school pantry partnership as district enrollment hits 10,001

Superintendent Dr. Amy Anderson recognized Loretta Smith on Aug. 18 for her work with the North Texas Food Bank and the Royse City ISD School Pantry Program. Dr. Anderson called out Smith’s contributions to the program, which the board said supports students and families facing food insecurity.
Trustees offered public praise during Board Members’ Comments. Board Trustee Amanda Self said, "There's a whole population that sometimes we fail to forget and you have not forgotten that, SO thank you for all that you do." Trustee Bobby Summers added, "Mrs. Smith, thank you SO much. ... The amount you feed and the amount of people affected by this, we just can't tell you how much, your work is phenomenal." Board President Scott Muckensturm and others thanked Smith and tied the recognition to the district’s start-of-school activities.
The district also reported an enrollment of 10,001 students as of the meeting date. Trustees highlighted convocation and the opening of Moss Elementary as positive signs of the new school year.
