Board adopts three-year on-call consultant agreements for public works and other needs

The Board of Aldermen approved Resolution 60-2024 to establish on-call professional consulting agreements with a pool of engineering and consulting firms across 11 areas of expertise. Public works director Shelley Daniel said the city received 24 statements of qualification, scored submissions and selected more than one consultant for most areas so staff could choose by performance and availability for funded projects.
Daniel told the board the contracts will run for three years with the option to extend yearly for up to three additional years and will be used for work already budgeted by the board. "The on call agreements will have a contract period of three years and may be extended on a year-to-year basis for an additional three years after the initial period," Daniel said. The board motioned to approve the resolution and it passed unanimously.
Why it matters: Creating an on-call consultant pool is intended to streamline procurement for capital and maintenance work that staff have budgeted, reducing delays for small or time-sensitive tasks. Specific selected firms and dollar amounts per project were not read into the public record at the meeting; staff said individual contracts for large projects will still return to the board for approval.
