The Middletown Common Council unanimously approved a municipal action to accept and pass through $35,000 in grant funds to satisfy a local 10% match for a RiverCOG grant supporting the Airline Trail / Farmington Canal connector feasibility and concept design work.
Acting Public Works Director Howard Weisberg explained that the city has received two related state grants (a $500,000 Urban Act grant and a RiverCOG grant) and that a portion of the Urban Act funds can be used to pay RiverCOG's required match. He told the council there are no city general‑fund dollars required for the match and that RiverCOG must have funds available to pay consultants and receive state reimbursement. Councilman Nocera moved approval and Councilman Lofredo seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
