Mayor Pezze reported Chastain & Associates requested a $25,000 increase in their contract to cover added engineering labor costs related to a six-month delay caused by the railroad. CJ explained that placement of a water main in the railroad easement and the railroad's slow response delayed work and generated additional engineering effort.
Trustee Nelson moved to add $25,000 for engineering fees to Phase 1; Trustee Paso seconded and the motion passed with all ayes. The increased amount will be included in the Phase 1 loan. Trustees did not debate rescinding or renegotiating earlier contract terms at this meeting; they approved the requested increase to keep the project moving.
