Mayor Tony Pezze told trustees the previously considered candidate for police chief was not hired because the village and the candidate could not agree on contract terms. "The reason we didn't hire this new chief is we couldn't get together a contract," Pezze said, adding that arrangements on timing and other terms could not be resolved and negotiations stopped.
Pezze also addressed social-media rumors about hiring someone from "down south," saying the village is accepting applications and that no final hire was made. The board continued its search for a chief and did not take further personnel action at the meeting.
