Ulster County legislator announces grants, early voting at Community Center and new county programs

Ulster County Legislator Laura Donovan used the board's March 23 workshop to outline county support for local programs and events. She said early voting will be held at the Marlboro Community Center in November and that she helped secure $17,000 with the county Department of Social Services for the Marlboro Central School District’s preschool special education program.
Donovan also noted a $3,000 award from the Ulster County Department of Tourism for the Heart of the Hudson Valley Bounty Festival and said she submitted a $2,500 grant application to the county clerk’s office for Milton Landing’s 250th anniversary celebrations. She described three upcoming county initiatives—"Farm revolving loan fund," "Nonprofit bridge loan program" and a "Free well water testing program"—that she said will be available online soon.
On constituent outreach, Donovan said her office remains accessible and noted that her "theoretical" door is always open for questions, comments or concerns. She also said she has assisted local fire departments with applying for fire grants and attended the New York State Conference of Counties.
