Residents press Marlborough board for clearer noise enforcement after repeated live-band complaints

During public comment at the May 27 workshop, resident Manette Bowman urged the board to require police to take decibel readings when responding to complaints about live bands at The Garage and said she felt intimidated during a previous police interaction. Ms. Bowman recounted an instance where she said "the police officer should have taken a decibel reading but instead shut the band down." Supervisor Corcoran and Councilman Zambito discussed enforcement and agreed to follow up with the police chief for clearer answers.
Linda Cool, owner of the Danskammer House Bed & Breakfast, said recent days have been quieter but that past disturbances reached around 70 decibels inside homes and caused frustration for residents and businesses. "It has, in the past been disruptive, reaching around 70 decibels inside homes," she said. Board members suggested keeping bands indoors with windows and doors closed and scheduled a meeting with business owners, the police chief, and the code enforcement officer to address permits and enforcement practice.
