Knox County Schools: prevention and discipline used to address student vaping

"We have discipline for that on the back end... but we also do preventative things," Doctor Reiswick said, adding that responses vary by the substance and evidence and can include zero-tolerance suspensions in some cases. He said health classes and awareness programs are part of the preventive effort and that allied agencies help determine the makeup of substances when incidents are suspected.
Officials emphasized the district balances prevention and accountability and said disciplinary decisions depend on specific facts in each case rather than a single uniform penalty.
