Knox County Schools reaffirms policy for an armed, highly trained officer at every campus

Superintendent Doctor Reiswick told reporters the district will maintain a policy of placing a highly trained armed officer in every school, a decision the board has continued to fund.
"We will have a highly trained armed officer in every school," Doctor Reiswick said, framing the presence of officers as the district's "best defense mechanism." Chief Grenillo added that the force available to the district includes officers who bring extensive law enforcement and military experience, describing a combined total of more than 1,100 years of service among uniformed personnel supporting schools.
Officials said the staffing approach is one part of a layered safety strategy that includes campus-specific plans, Tip reporting and technology. The district did not provide a roster of which officers will be assigned to which campuses or exact staffing per campus during the press conference.
