Maintenance Director Fred Butler presented a multi-site summer facilities plan to the board on April 14, listing projects across the district that the maintenance team expects to complete over the summer months.
Key projects Butler called out include Coffeen Early Childhood Center demolition and renovation; remodeling three Coffeen classrooms (abatement, flooring, ceilings, paint); Beckemeyer roof phase 1 for gym and five classrooms; converting a garden area into an outdoor classroom; cabinet work in second-grade classrooms; upgrades to the junior high; a new conference room via library renovation; new gym bleachers and refresh work in the old gym; high school landscaping and fencing between the new gym and greenhouse; mill and asphalt work and striping of the student parking lot; sidewalks and bridge work near the fairgrounds; and multiple cafeteria and gym finishing items.
Superintendent McBrain noted that sales tax revenue and an Energy Transition Grant are expected to fund the majority of the larger projects. The board later approved several individual contracts and purchases that implement parts of this plan.
