Morris told the board the district received three quotes from Refrigeration and Equipment Services: a Daikin 10‑ton unit for $14,800, a Carrier 10‑ton unit for $17,200, and an Aaon 10‑ton unit for $36,150. All options included a new curb adaptor, electrical reconnection, drain lines, control wiring, crane service and labor, and required a $10,000 deposit to order equipment. She also noted that three separate units currently needed attention, although the written proposal initially covered a single unit. Trustees discussed price differences and lead times (Daikin and Carrier: two to three weeks; Aaon: seven to nine months).
Trustee Velinda Reyes pressed for a faster solution, saying “the district could not wait 7–9 months to fix the problem.” Trustee Jorge Alvarez moved to replace all three units with Carrier units; Board Secretary Albino Alaniz seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously at approximately 6:23 PM with all members present voting in favor.
The board did not record a total contract price in the motion; the Carrier unit price presented was $17,200 per 10‑ton unit and a $10,000 deposit is required to order equipment. Superintendent Morris's presentation indicated Carrier lead time of about two to three weeks, which the board cited as a factor in approving immediate replacement of all three units.
