On March 20, 2025, the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to adopt new mathematics and reading/language-arts instructional materials for use in the 2025–2026 school year. "Ms. Duncan moved, seconded by Mrs. Mueller, to adopt the Mathematics and Reading Language Arts Curriculum," the minutes record, and the motion passed with Ayes: Bright, Burns, Crettenden, Duncan, Dwyer, Guerra and Mueller; Nays: None.
The minutes state that the State Board of Education (SBOE) reviews instructional materials through the Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) process for alignment with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), factual errors, suitability and physical/electronic specifications. The board noted that districts will order materials through the Texas Education Agency's Educational Materials (EMAT) system and that grant funds may be accepted through TEA's eGrants system. Implementation of the adopted materials is scheduled for the 2025–2026 school year.
