Ryan Johnson of SDDOT’s Office of Operations Support presented the Department’s June construction change orders, reporting a net decrease of $2,426,974.28 for projects completed in June and an overall 1.51% change to original contract amounts over the past 12 months. Johnson highlighted specific projects with notable changes, including IM 2292(118)0 (I‑229 interchange ramps) which showed a $463,611.78 increase, a 26.2% change on that contract, attributed to additional concrete pavement repairs and an added asphalt overlay requested by the Department.
Other adjustments included decreases on large contracts after quantity reconciliations, such as contract reductions on the Mitchell region asphalt surface treatment and line‑item quantity adjustments on the Veteran’s Parkway contract. Johnson provided contract numbers, PCNs, and explanations for each CCO presented to the Commission; the report was informational and no Commission vote was required.
