The Franklin County Board of Commissioners on Aug. 5 approved acceptance of an "unofficial detour reimbursement contract" with MDOT to cover county costs tied to the Reservoir Road detour while State Road 1 was closed.
County staff addressed by name as Justin summarized the agreement with MDOT, saying, "They have agreed to pay I think it was a 155,000." The chair confirmed, "$155,000." A commissioner moved to approve the contract and the motion carried on a voice vote; the board directed that signatures be obtained to complete the agreement.
The contract was introduced on the agenda as the first substantive item and the county indicated the approval was a ministerial step to accept the reimbursement and allow execution of the paperwork. The board did not read additional contract line items aloud during the meeting and no effective date beyond the motion was provided.
