Planning panel advances ADESA Pittsburgh site improvements, including 25 acres of vehicle storage

Hempfield Township planners voted unanimously July 1 to forward ADESA Pittsburgh's site improvement plan to technical review.
Tyler Fiely of Kimley‑Horn told the commission the property will continue as an auto auction and will include stinger improvements, about 25 acres of vehicle storage and associated stormwater controls; no new buildings are proposed. He said an existing single gravel lane that connects the two areas would be widened to a two‑lane paved road. The applicant confirmed exterior lighting will meet the township's minimal foot‑candle requirements, and existing vegetative buffers will be retained.
Jenn Roldan of Carvana said current site activity includes "approximately 9 stingers per day, that will increase," and the applicant described capacity for up to 30 stingers. The commission's 6-0 vote to forward the plan to Technical Review allows township staff and peer reviewers to assess stormwater, lighting, circulation and other technical matters before any final approvals.
