Trustees approve expansion of Great Expectations to two elementary schools
Summary
Seguin ISD trustees voted unanimously March 25 to expand the Great Expectations program into Koennecke and Jefferson Avenue elementary schools for the 2025-26 school year, citing benefits for student achievement, teacher effectiveness and school culture.
Board President Denise Crettenden called a motion from Trustee Linda Duncan to expand the Great Expectations program into Koennecke and Jefferson Avenue elementary schools; Trustee Grace Mueller seconded the motion and the board approved it unanimously. Duncan told the board the district faces challenges including low academic performance and high teacher turnover that the program is intended to address through expectations-based instruction and educator professional development. The motion passed with Ayes: Bright, Burns, Crettenden, Duncan, Dwyer, Guerra and Mueller and Nays: None.
