Resident presents private JPods pilot concept for George Washington Boulevard; board asks for detailed proposal

Judith Van Ham (speaker 10) outlined a proposed 100-yard JPods pilot adjacent to the carousel and in the George Washington Boulevard right-of-way, describing a privately funded personal pod transit that would be built and operated by the company. "What this is about is upon the idea of it. JPODS is the company that I've known now for the last 25 years," Van Ham said, describing a short demonstration that the company offered to install at no cost to the town and remove if the town declined to keep it.

Board members raised questions about state right-of-way permission, tower/support structure height, station access and accessibility, and where a prototype might be staged. Several members said the concept might be feasible elsewhere but that major engineering, state approvals and clearer written proposals were required before the board could decide. The board asked the presenter to submit a written proposal with engineering details, videos of other installations and any materials on insurance and operations for a future agenda placement.
