John Riley, chair of the town's 250th-anniversary committee, asked the Select Board to close sections of Nantasket Avenue and N Street for the Aug. 15 parade and to impose a temporary parking ban in the parade corridor. "We do need closure from Nantasket Ave at Nantasket Road all the way to N Street, and also N Street to Nantasket Ave," Riley said, outlining a route and volunteer/parking logistics.
Board members discussed timing and police coordination; one member recommended closing N Street from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for vendor activity. The board approved a motion to authorize the road closures "as proposed by the 250th committee in consultation with the chief of police," with the chair noting final arrangements would be determined in consultation with the police department. The motion passed by voice vote.
