The Buchanan Planning Commission on Aug. 5 voted to table PLC26‑14, a proposed Hyundai dealership at 10247 Perry Highway, after engineering staff identified missing technical support for traffic and geotechnical findings. The applicant, represented by Sean Minnie of Harshman CE Group, described a two‑story sales and service building and a 5.93‑acre vehicle display and storage lot, and said the team will provide additional engineering documentation.
Commissioners and the town engineer pressed the applicant for the traffic study behind a weekend‑peak projection of 164 trips compared with the ordinance threshold of 75, and said the pending geotechnical report could require changes to stormwater design. "They're stating that there's a 164 trips during the weekend peak hour, which exceeds the threshold of 75 that's established in the ordinance," the engineer said; the applicant replied, "We did some sort of projections... I can get a more precise answer for you on that." Given those outstanding technical issues, the Chair moved to table the application until the next meeting so staff can review the traffic and geotechnical submissions.
The tabled status is procedural: applicants and staff said they will provide the requested traffic basis, the geotechnical report, and written documentation about on‑site access and fencing near the adjacent high school. No final vote on the land‑development plan was taken.
