The Southwest ISD Board of Trustees convened in closed session under Texas Government Code sections 551.001–551.146 on Feb. 18 to discuss personnel matters, the Superintendent's evaluation and contract, attorney consultation and Level Three public complaints alleging election concerns and perceived conflicts of interest. President Sylvester Vasquez Jr. announced the closed session began at 6:32 p.m.; the board reconvened in open session at 8:11 p.m.
After returning to open session, the Board unanimously approved the Superintendent's personnel recommendations, approved the Superintendent's evaluation and renewed the Superintendent's contract. Trustees also moved to deny two Level Three grievances: one alleging illegal electioneering and one alleging conflicts of interest. The minutes record unanimous votes to deny the grievances and to approve the Superintendent's contract and personnel items; specific personnel names, contract terms and grievance exhibits are not included in the published minutes.
