Police Chief Donicio Silva told the Board that the Kenilworth Police Department received five identity-theft reports in the past month, bringing the year-to-date total to 23. He outlined plans to raise resident awareness of identity-theft risks.
Commander Ryan Glew added that traffic citations have declined; he said the bulk of fine revenues are remitted to the Cook County court system and that revenue returned to the village is negligible. Chief Silva also described the department’s efforts to improve officer development, bring T.A.S.E.R. training online, and reorganize the evidence room.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about the nature of the identity-theft incidents and the department’s communication plans to inform residents about prevention and smoke-testing protocols in public works.
