Commissioners appoint Christine Smith to Crawford County Library Board after earlier candidate vote fails

The Crawford County Board of Commissioners appointed Christine Smith to the Crawford County Library Board for a term ending Oct. 31, 2029.
The board first considered a motion to appoint Wendy Kucharek; that motion failed on a roll call where Moore voted no, Powers voted aye, Frederick voted no, Goscicki voted no, Kraycs voted no, Lewis voted aye and Jamison voted aye. Afterward, a motion by Commissioner Moore, seconded by Commissioner Kraycs, to appoint Christine Smith passed by roll call with Moore, Powers, Kraycs and Jamison recorded as voting in favor and others recorded as not in favor. A later motion by Commissioner Frederick to appoint Dean Smith was not taken to roll call because Christine Smith's appointment had already been carried.
The appointment resolves one vacancy on the library board. The board conducted a prior interview in the meeting with applicant Timothy Lochinski as part of its recruitment process. The county clerk will record Christine Smith's appointment and update the Library Board roster.
