DuBois council renews school resource officer agreement with DuBois Central Catholic

The DuBois City Council on Aug. 5 voted to renew its School Resource Officer agreement with DuBois Central Catholic, maintaining a part-time officer funded by reimbursements from the school. "We provide a part-time officer for DCC, and we invoice them, and they reimburse us for our service," said the presenter from the police department (speaker 11), summarizing the program. Council members moved to approve the agreement, the motion was seconded and the measure carried by voice vote.
Council and staff said the SRO has led to "a lot of interaction with the kids and teachers" and that officers also deliver educational programs in schools. The mayor asked for a motion to approve and the council approved the renewal without further amendment.
The agreement was presented as a renewal of an existing two-year contract and no additional appropriation was recorded in the meeting minutes. The city manager said staff had no further changes to report and recommended approval.
The council recorded the voice vote as "motion carried," and staff will finalize the renewal paperwork and billing schedule with DuBois Central Catholic.
