Free fair-housing workshop Aug. 20 to cover tenant and landlord rights

Nick Rivas, host of the Rose City Report for Pasadena Media, announced that the Housing Rights Center and the City of Pasadena are inviting renters and landlords to a free fair-housing workshop on Aug. 20 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Jackie Robinson Community Center.
"The 1 hour workshop will cover important tenant and landlord rights under California Fair Housing law, including disability accommodations, source of income protections, immigration based housing protections, and how to recognize and report housing discrimination," Rivas said. He added that Spanish and Armenian interpretation will be available upon request for registrants who register in advance and directed listeners to housingrightscenter.org/workshops to register.
The workshop was presented as an informational session to help residents understand rights and responsibilities and to promote fair and equal access to housing; the host did not announce any change in local ordinance or enforcement actions. Landlords, tenant advocates and community members seeking interpretation services were advised to register ahead of time to secure language support.
