Long Lake approves free state cybersecurity protection program (EDR)

The Long Lake Town Board voted Feb. 25 to join a state-run cybersecurity initiative that provides Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) software and related support through the New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) and the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES). The resolution notes the service is provided at no cost to the Town and directs the Supervisor to execute the intergovernmental agreement and report back on implementation.
The resolution frames the action as necessary to "safeguard municipal information systems, ensure continuity of government operations, and reduce exposure to cyber threats." The motion was made by Councilman Thomas L. Donnelly, seconded by Councilman Mark A. Bird, and adopted 4–0 (Arsenault, Donnelly, Bird, Dechene — Aye). Relevant Town personnel were directed to coordinate deployment and configuration with State agencies.
