Sheriff Ryan Swope told the board that a vacant full‑time jail position has been filled and a part‑time position candidate looks promising. He reported that the jail's GED program "is reimplemented into the jail" and announced community events: the "Flee & Elude" 5K/10K on Oct. 26 at 10:00 A.M. beginning at the County Building and Boosterpalooza Oct. 26 hosted by Grayling Youth Boosters at Grayling Eagles.
Following the sheriff's report, the board approved a motion to increase the part‑time secretary's wage to $20.00 an hour on a roll call vote. The minutes also note the retirement of Paulette Krause and hiring of Theresa Bonamie to replace her, and the board accepted the sheriff's staffing recommendations as recorded in the meeting minutes.
