Council asks staff to study sewer extension after feasibility questions about 2,000‑foot run

Councilmember Altman (S3) raised the question about whether the city should plan for sewer expansion in the CIP. Miss Vance (S5) replied that a quick GIS review showed the nearest sewer tie‑in would be approximately 2,000 feet away and currently is a 2‑inch line that would require upsizing. "Our nearest, would be about 2,000 feet away, and it's a 2 inch line," S5 said, noting substantial capital work and potential coordination with Pasco County would be required.
Mayor Davis (S1) responded to the policy and data request: "Well, thank you, councilman Altman, for bringing that up, and we will do a study so that we have some facts to share with you." The council agreed not to include large construction expenditures in the current CIP year without a factual study of pipe sizes, distances, environmental factors and potential partner contributions from the county.
Staff said they will return with a study outlining cost estimates, routing options and whether nearby county infrastructure could change the project's feasibility.
