City staff told the commission this business is one of several existing operators working to comply with Edmond's supplemental-use standards and that the applicant had provided required therapist licenses and façade information. "This is the 1st in a series of existing businesses that have been working to come into compliance with Edmond's recently approved supplemental use standards," staff said, and recommended approval.
A practitioner identified herself as Yichung Zhang and spoke in support, asking the commission to evaluate legitimate businesses on licensing and compliance instead of stigma. "My name is Yichung Zhang. I'm a medical massage therapist and also a proud resident of Edmond," she said, and added she is "dedicated to running a professional, honest business that service our community." The commission approved the motion 5-0; the item will go to City Council on Aug. 24 for final action.
