Assessor reports lower sales volume and reminds residents about appeal process

Township Assessor John Killeen told trustees, "New Sales volume is down 18 sales from last year. Prices continue to hold steady. Do not see prices rising at this time." He said the assessor's office continues to take calls and meet with property owners to provide assessment details and assist with exemptions.
Killeen also described construction activity and the appeals calendar: several new residential structures were completed in 2025 and four new homes are currently under construction, and he reminded residents that the open appeals window has closed and the board of review will hear cases through Feb. 5. He emphasized that "You cannot appeal your tax bill; we can ensure your assessment is correct."
