Highway commissioner reports salt inventory, truck upgrades and upcoming easement tree work

Highway Commissioner Kyle Walter updated the board on winter maintenance and equipment work. He said crews salted and plowed drifting snow Jan. 19–23, installed a radio in new truck #14, used inmate crews for maintenance and painted equipment, and filled potholes during fair weather. Walter reported an additional delivery of 75 tons of salt, leaving about 100 tons remaining from the previous contract.
Walter also described a pipeline ownership history and future work: "Got a call from Guardian Pipeline. It was sold to One Oak in 2024, then acquired by DT Mainstream, and they are going to install a 2nd pipeline in the future." He added that the McHenry County Conservation District has tentatively scheduled a day in the third week of March to remove dead trees on its easement near Maxon Road to prevent trees from falling on township roads. Walter also noted a recent bridge meeting attended by 13 of the 17 county highway commissioners.
