DCBS: Wendy's Wonderful Kids will assist with adoptions; no layoffs expected

During the subcommittee's July 1 meeting, Mary Carpenter described how Wendy's Wonderful Kids, a program of the Dave Thomas Foundation, trained DCBS staff to support adoption work for children with terminated parental rights. Committee members asked whether that collaboration would lead to staff reductions.
Secretary Steven Stack responded that "no employees would be terminated; their work will be integrated into the existing infrastructure," and said Wendy's staff would assist with adoption paperwork while social workers continue frontline work. The cabinet also noted upcoming changes to administrative matching requirements that will increase states' administrative costs beginning this fall.
