Webster board adopts policy to record advisory‑board meetings starting Sept. 1

The Webster Town Board on Aug. 6 moved to establish a formal policy to record five advisory boards and committees, including the town board, planning board, zoning board, conservation board and the comprehensive plan steering committee.
Councilman Hunter introduced the measure as a transparency initiative; members discussed scope and logistics, including equipment already in use and a recommended timetable to review the policy annually at the organizational meeting. Staff noted the steering committee had already been recording sessions and recommended including it in the formal list to close the loop.
The resolution designates Sept. 1, 2026 as the effective date and calls for an annual review tied to the organizational meeting. Board members voted in favor of adopting the recording policy and discussed minor implementation steps (staff training, communications outreach and preparing the conservation board for its first filmed meeting).
