Superintendent warns enrollment decline could force staffing cuts at Coquille SD 8

Wayne reviewed year-to-year figures, described average-daily-membership swings, and said the district will present more detailed staffing information during executive session. He added that birth-rate trend data provide a near-term view of incoming kindergarten cohorts and that some enrollment stabilization is possible in future years, but the short-term projection remains concerning.
The superintendent asked the board to "really try to think about that and get your head around it," and said more detailed budget implications would be provided as the administration prepares next year's budget.
