Historical association seeks park board member for $1 million Crown Point grant collaboration

Julie Sazade, representing the Sierra Lake Historical Association, asked the Cedar Lake Park Board to appoint a representative to a collaborative application for the Crown Point Community Foundation’s $1,000,000 grant challenge. "We have applied to the Crown Point Community Foundation's $1,000,000 grant challenge," Sazade said, and explained that the grant requires multiple applicants working on a town‑based project informed by the Cedar Lake Heart and Soul feedback.

Sazade said the Historical Association would serve as lead applicant responsible for writing the grant and — if awarded — for dispersing funds to contractors and participants. Board members discussed that appointees could attend the roughly four collaborative meetings even if not formally appointed and that staff and council had already received letters about the project.

The board nominated Gail Brennan to represent the park board on the collaboration and noted that participation would require coordination with the town council and parks foundation. No formal funding commitment from the board was made at the meeting; the request was for a board appointment to the grant team and to participate in planning meetings.
